- Streamer of the Day - Kevin Correia - Owned in 6% of Yahoo! Leagues
There is nothing wrong with cherry picking starters and streaming them against the Miami Marlins, the least productive offense in baseball, which has manufactured just 43 runs in 19 games. Kevin Correia and the Minnesota Twins are the latest beneficiaries of a tasty matchup against the Marlins, who will send their ace Ricky Nolasco to the mound on the road at Target Field. Neither pitcher has faced their opponent, so give the edge to Correia, who is pitching at home and should have more offensive support.
2013 Streamer Quality Start Record: 12-5
Tuesday's Streamer of the Day - Ross Detwiler - Owned in 51% of Yahoo! Leagues
Today's Lineup Card: CC Sabathia has owned the Tampa Bay Rays in 29 career starts (10-9 with a 3.19 ERA over 206 innings) while sophomore southpaw Matt Moore has struggled against the Pinstripes in his young career (2-2 with a 5.06 ERA). Both left-handers will square off in the marquee pitching matchup of the day at Tropicana Field. Moore still needs to cut down his walks, but has every other attribute necessary to join Sabathia in the elite class of fantasy pitchers.
The Colorado Rockies lead the Major League in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS and rank second in runs scored through 18 games this season, which should give Mike Minor's fantasy owners cause for concern with the Atlanta Braves on the road at Coors Field today. Minor has started one game at Coors Field in his career (5/5/12) and was shelled for eight runs on 10 hits over five innings. It is difficult to bench a pitcher of Minor's caliber, but it might be a good idea to keep him on the bench today.
Pittsburgh Pirates ace A.J. Burnett, the Major League strikeout leader with 35 so far this season, owns a 5.06 ERA in 106.2 career innings against the Philadelphia Phillies but has been impressive early on this season. Burnett is a virtual lock for a win today facing Jonathan Pettibone, who will be making his Major League debut for the Phillies.
The San Diego Padres are just 1-5 at home this season and it doesn't get any easier facing Kyle Lohse and the Milwaukee Brewers. Veteran Jason Marquis has been solid through three starts this season, but has struggled against the Brewers in his career (6-11 with a 5.33 ERA over 20 career starts).
Dan Haren is no longer a surefire starter in fantasy baseball after three disastrous starts to open up the 2013 season. Haren has yet to pitch past the fifth inning this season and was lit up by the Miami Marlins for seven runs on seven hits in his last start. Haren is 4-0 with a 3.65 ERA in five career starts against St. Louis, but will not have any margin for error today going up against Shelby Miller who has been phenomenal out of the gates for the Cardinals.
Along with every other starter in Boston this season, Felix Doubront appears to have taken a major step forward in his development, but if history is any indicator, he shouldn't be on fantasy owner's radar today. Doubront owns a 12.86 ERA in two career starts against the Oakland Athletics.
