- Streamer of the Day - Wandy Rodriguez - Owned in 63% of Yahoo! Leagues
Whenever I choose a Streamer of the Day, I try to target a pitcher owned in less than 60 percent of Yahoo! leagues, today is the first time all season that I have gone above that number, but it is a weak day for streamers. Wandy Rodriguez is slated to face Roy Halladay and the Philadelphia Phillies on the road today. You never know what you are going to get with Halladay at this point, but he did look very good in his last start. The confidence and command seems to have returned for Halladay, but the way Rodriguez is pitching right now (2-0, 0.56 ERA), it is hard to pick against him in this matchup.
Yesterday's Streamer of the Day: Kevin Correia - W 7.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB and 5 K
2013 Streamer Quality Start Record: 14-5
Friday's Streamer of the Day - Jorge De La Rosa - Owned in 13% of Yahoo! Leagues
What Happened Last Night: It was 23 degrees at first pitch in Colorado yesterday, the coldest gametime temperature in the majors since data started being collected in 1991, according to STATS. The Rockies said the previous low at Coors Field was 28. That didn't stop the Braves and Mike Minor from coming away with a victory.
Clayton Kershaw turned in his second consecutive subpar start, going just five innings while giving up two runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts. Kershaw had owned the Mets throughout his career, but labored to get through five innings yesterday.
Lets just say I got another one right when I said that Alfredo Aceves had never fared well against the Oakland A's and was a likely candidate to get shelled. Bartolo Colon fired seven shutout innings to pick up the win in a rain shortened contest.
Today's Lineup Card: When you take a look at the FFToolbox rankings today, you will notice that nearly every pitcher in the top 20 is likely to be owned in nearly every league. There aren't very many options for streamers out there. I touted Jose Quintana of the Chicago White Sox yesterday so I won't repeat my entire argument, but the stuff is legit and he owned the Cleveland Indians the last time faced them this season.
The only other options for streamers today besides Rodriguez would be Andy Pettitte, if he is still available in your league, and Wade Davis, another pitcher I profiled yesterday that was rained out. I would stay away from any of the options outside the top 20 in the rankings today, too much risk.
Injuries are starting to take their toll on rotations around baseball as Josh Stinson (Baltimore), Ted Lilly (Dodgers), Tyler Chatwood (Colorado) and Michael Roth (Los Angeles Angels) will make their first starts of the season today. Of those four options, only Lilly, making his first start since May 23rd of last season, is worthy of consideration from a fantasy perspective today. Roth, a rookie out of South Carolina has a lot of potential long-term, but he isn't a fantasy option today facing Texas.
The starting pitcher rankings and analysis above are all my opinions, use your best judgment when it comes to setting your lineup, its your team after all. If you have a fantasy baseball question or comment, feel free to follow me on Twitter @GeorgeBissell.
