2008 NBA Mock Draft - Projections
11. Indiana - D.J. Augustin, Texas, PG
The Pacers were a rudderless ship much of last season and the former Longhorn floor general should be handed the keys to the offense right away. His presence and leadership last season helped offset the loss of Kevin Durant as the Longhorns nearly matched Kansas all season long.
12. Sacramento - DeAndre Jordan, Texas A&M, C
There may not be a player in need of strong pre-draft workouts more than Jordan. Teams love the athletic freshman who plays big around the basket, but there are some questions about Jordan's desire and that could slide him to the late teens. However, the Kings eventually need to find a replacement for Brad Miller and of course, you can't teach height.
13. Portland - Darrell Arthur, Kansas, PF
The Trail Blazers are flush with young talent so they take a flyer on the rugged Arthur, one of the heroes from the champion Jayhawks. Arthur has tremendous upside, but needs to show scouts during workouts that he can maintain a competitive fire on a regular basis.
14. Golden State - Joe Alexander, West Virginia, PF
One of the most polished scorers in the draft, Alexander is shooting up draft boards and could be a top-10 pick by draft night. Alexander's ability to score in half court sets might not be an ideal fit for the fast-breaking Warriors, but he is a Don Nelson player and they need a more traditional type scorer up front.
15. Phoenix - Donte Greene, Syracuse, SF
The Suns missed Marion's versatility following the trade with the Heat and Greene can fill that void. He can slide up to play some power forward in the right matchups and has the athleticism to stay with most small forwards. Augustin could be snagged as the heir apparent to Steve Nash if he is still on the board while Brandon Rush could step into the rotation immediately as a deep threat.
16. Philadelphia - Marresse Speights, Florida, C
17. Toronto - Brandon Rush, Kansas, SG
18. Washington - JaVale McGee, Nevada, C
19. Cleveland - Nicolas Batum, France, SF
20. Denver - Kosta Koufas, Ohio State, C
21. New Jersey (from Dallas) - Robin Lopez, Stanford, C
22. Orlando - Chris Douglas-Roberts, Memphis, SG
23. Utah - Roy Hibbert, Georgetown, C
24. Seattle (from Phoenix) - Jason Thompson, Rutgers, PF
25. Houston - J.J. Hickson, N.C. State, PF
26. San Antonio - Mario Chalmers, Kansas, PG
27. New Orleans - Serge Ibaka, Congo, PF
28. Memphis (from L.A. Lakers) - Alexis Ajinca, France, PF
29. Detroit - Bill Walker, Kansas State, SF
30. Boston - Courtney Lee, Western Kentucky, SG
