What is Dynasty?
Dynasty is different from re-draft. You don't re-draft your team each season. You draft your team 1 time and keep it, forever! Then, every season immediately following the excitement of the NFL Draft, you will draft rookies and available free agents to add youth and talent to your team.
Is Trading Allowed?
Absolutely! Dynasty leagues allow trading of players and/or your upcoming draft picks. If a leaguemate considers the trade to be unfair, we will take a second look as all trades are subject to evaluation and approval by our Commissioner, Emil Kadlec and a small team of non-participating dynasty experts from both websites. However, our general stance on trades is to let each manager trade as they see fit. Only in suspected colllusion or extemely lopsided trades will the FFWC Commissioner step in and resolve the issue.
What happens if/when a team ops out of a league?
While dynasty is designed to be long-term where the team you are building is for the long-haul, some players may experience issues in coming back. When this occurs, we will put any available teams up for sale to new owners the following year. New owners have the option of keeping their team intact as is or joining any others in the said league for a new dispersal draft where the ENTIRE TEAM of players and picks are thrown into the dispersal draft. It's very standard in Dynasty to have a new owner every once in a while and our team of dynasty experts feel that the off-season dispersal draft helps to solve the issue when a player either doesn't like their team or a new owner comes in and wants to rebuild. We also require a non-refundable $100 deposit on any trade that involves a future pick. When a team that is not built so well decides to leave, we have that deposit there to help sell the team if need be.
Should I draft to win now or think long-term?
It is entirely up to the owners to decide how to draft their team as there are no roster restrictions in the draft. During the draft, players are encouraged to observe how others are building their team and draft accordingly. If a team starts out with older stud veterans, it's likely they may continue on this strategy in an effort to win now. Some players are comfortable building a true dynasty, of younger guys who will last a longer period of time, where multi-year dominance comes the next year or the year after. Some players try to balance the two, trying to both win now and build for the future. The strategy is entirely up to you. It's your cash you're spending, build your team as you see fit. Just remember, players get old and their trade value diminishes quickly.
What if during draft trades, I end up with MORE than the roster size of 20?
That is fine! Our cut-down dates are before the season starts, so the roster limit only applies primarily in-season.
When are the maiden / start-up draft going to take place?
The tentative plan is to start both our rookie and startup maiden drafts immediately following the NFL Draft on Monday, May 12, 2014. We will also hold start-up drafts all throughout the Summer.
How will players be grouped into leagues and draft slots be awarded?
We will random draw the leagues assignments (usually live on a podcast or video).
What is the Off-Season Dispersal Draft?
Each off-season, after the Super Bowl, and before the NFL Draft, each owner will have the option of participating in the Dispersal Draft. This is done by emailing the Dynasty Commissioner @ firstname.lastname@example.org and announcing your intent to participate. If more than 1 team from any given league chooses this option, all players and picks from those rosters will be put into a separate draft pool and these participating owners will draft new teams from this pool.
Dispersal drafts are popular for several reasons.
1. In the event an owner abandons their team, this gives new owners the chance to rebuild their new team to fit their strategy much more quickly.
2. When a team drafts players that don't turn out as expected, a team can enter the dispersal draft and acquire a new roster by either selecting more draft picks or other players from their previous owner's rosters participating in the draft.
3. Usually after a dispersal draft, trading in the league becomes active as there are always a few picks made near the end of the draft that owners can part with.
Please Note: In the event that only 1 team selects to enter a dispersal draft, the draft will be cancelled for that league.
What guarantee do I have that the prizes will be paid promptly at FFToolbox?
First of all, FFToolbox has been around since 1997, so we're not a fly by night operation. Secondly, we have taken extra precautionary steps to ensure players don't have to rest on name reputation alone. All of your prizes are fully guaranteed. The prize pool is sacred to us. The prize fund is always protected in a segregated prize account at Wells Fargo. This means that these funds will never be commingled with the operating accounts of the business. Additionally feel free to ask for the feedback from our players. We love hearing first hand testimonials!
When will FFToolbox send out my prize money?
Checks will be in the mail no later than January 15, 2015, provided that we have received your proper tax withholding information (W-9).
