Keeper and Dynasty League Rankings
1. Drew Brees, QB, NO - Age 31
No reason to believe the Saints offensive juggernaut will slow down anytime soon, especially with Brees and an aggressive play caller for a head coach. Could use offensive line help to max production.
2. Aaron Rodgers, QB, GB - Age 26
Rodgers went from being outside the top tier of Quarterbacks to being the overall top scorer in 2009. The Pack have plenty of scoring options and adding a tackle puts them closer to being borderline unstoppable
3. Peyton Manning, QB, IND - Age 34
Coming off an MVP season, what does Manning do? Throw for even more yards and touchdowns, direct near undefeated season and win his third MVP award. What can you fault? Well, other than that Super Bowl int...
4. Philip Rivers, QB, SD - Age 28
The San Diego Chargers are officially Rivers team after another 4,000 yard season. The excitement QB is also in range for another 30 TD campaign and there is no reason to think 2010 will be anything different.
5. Tom Brady, QB, NE - Age 32
The much talked about knee of Brady's held up for a full season, though it was clear at times he was not totally comfortable. That should not be an issue next year, though not having a healthy Welker will be.
6. Matt Schaub, QB, HOU - Age 29
Those 'can't stay healthy' concerns were a non-factor in 2009. An intact Schaub leads the NFL in passing yards and did it for half the year without Owen Daniels or a viable running attack.
7. Tony Romo, QB, DAL - Age 30
Romo put to bed a lot of the lingering questions surrounding him, to can he win a playoff game to how will he produce without TO. Now he gets another weapon in Dez Bryant to join last year's find Miles Austin.
8. Joe Flacco, QB, BAL - Age 25
No Sophomore slump for Flacco, who was given the full playbook and largely delivered, though had a mid-season stretch were his youthful indiscretions were on display. Boldin just adds to potential.
9. Ben Roethlisberger, QB, PIT - Age 28
The off the field issues cast a dark cloud over what was a stellar season . Big Ben delivered the first 4,000 yard season in team history. How he conducts himself going forward is the concern, not the talent.
10. Matt Ryan, QB, ATL - Age 25
Will not go as far to say that Ryan regressed in his second season, but it was hard to see much improvement. Staying healthy next year will help, but potential remains high with his poise and arm combo.
11. Eli Manning, QB, NYG - Age 29
If anything can be taken out this non-playoff season for the Giants, it is that Manning can handle a heavy workload as he kept Giants offense afloat. Numbers should remain high with Nicks and Smith improving.
12. Kevin Kolb, QB, PHI - Age 25
Is this too high of a ranking for a guy that has started only two career games? Perhaps, but Kolb showed plenty to like in his play last season and all the talent around him is also in the 26-and-under range.
13. Donovan McNabb, QB, WAS - Age 34
Though he no longer has the same electric weapons to work with, McNabb has much to prove following his trade to Washington. The talent cupboard might be fine if Shanahan gets everyone on same page.
14. Chad Henne, QB, MIA - Age 25
The first-year starter flashed plenty of game, enough that the Fins likely limit use of the Wildcat next year. Now he has a stud WR to work with in Marshall. Henne can join elite QBs if development continues.
15. Jay Cutler, QB, CHI - Age 27
Ranking Cutler this high after a heinous season is based on the assumption of some personal growth (we'll see) and the addition of the mad bomber, Mike Martz, to the coaching staff.
16. Carson Palmer, QB, CIN - Age 30
Not really sure what went wrong here, especially since Cedric Benson exceeded all expectations. Additions of Antonio Bryant, Jermaine Gresham and Matt Jones will help plenty, but Palmer needs to show more.
17. Brett Favre, QB, MIN - Age 40
Never knowing Favre's status from moment to moment is a reason to not slot him terribly high, but he was top notch most of the season and the Vikes are loaded. Favre will be back. Maybe.
18. Vince Young, QB, TEN - Age 27
The Titans playoff run came up short, but starting VY began the turnaround. Still not a great fantasy passer, but the Titans have solid receiving options to help him. And don't forget those legs.
19. Matthew Stafford, QB, DET - Age 22
The Lions have a ways to go, but they do not need to worry about the QB position for now, though they have done little to help protect him. Aggressive, not afraid as rook. Burleson and Best are nice additions.
20. Mark Sanchez, QB, NYJ - Age 23
Sanchez regressed as the season went on - not unexpected for a guy who started only one year in college - but he was steady in playoff run. Now Jets are loaded on offense, so statistical bounce is likely.
21. Matt Leinart, QB, ARI - Age 27
All the bust talk is premature, but Leinart certainly has done little in the pros to warrant much in the way of expectations. Cards have tons of weapons and he might be forced to throw plenty if defense struggles.
22. Matt Cassel, QB, KC - Age 28
Guess it is easier to play QB when you are throwing to Moss and Welker. In sharp contrast to his run with the Pats, Cassel struggled mightily, but not a shock for year one in a new system. Chiefs rebuild continues.
23. Jason Campbell, QB, OAK - Age 28
Hard to believe after his trying times in DC, but Campbell is a massive upgrade for Raiders. Not flashy, but did well with lack of supporting cast and has big arm Raiders love. More solid than folks realize.
24. Josh Freeman, QB, TB - Age 22
Freeman had some horrid rookie moments, but also flashed off his strong arm and help lead the Bucs to some nice late season wins. Except more ups and downs in Year two, but there is something here.
25. Jimmy Clausen (R), QB, CAR - Age 22
Clausen gets the nod over his fellow rookies because of the great backfield tandem, strong offensive line and stud receiver in Steve Smith he gets. Unless Matt Moore is the real deal, expect Jimmy in soon.
