		The benefit of a mock draft is to try different things than what your instincts tell you. In a real draft, I would absolutely go with that Decepticon fellow as the first WR off the board at this pick. Given we have pretty high projections for one Ryan Mathews over at FF Today (RB2 behind Foster), and mostly because I want to see how this plays out in the subsequent rounds starting with a RB, Mathews is the pick. Go Chargers. And just when I was coming around to unsubscribing from their fan club, they pulled me back in.

		After the big three, Foster, McCoy and Rice, the only two players I consider are Aaron Rodgers and Calvin Johnson. I think with a top 4-5 overall pick, it's important to land a player that can finish No. 1 at his position. You can't go wrong with either Rodgers or Calvin with that No. 4 or 5 slot this year.

		Contract squabbles aside, just shy of 2,000 combined yards and 11 TD's in 2011 certainly has my attention. The Jaguars are making a run at trying to improve and the addition of Justin Blackmon could help Blaine Gabbert and the entire offense stay on the field more. I see a real potential for MJD's total TD's to go up in 2012.

		To me, this is the tricky spot in round one. Prefer going with an RB, but I don't 100% trust the remaining options. Could go WR, but there is much depth within the position this year. Same argument could be made at QB, but the difference is the elite are true difference makers so I'll take the biggest difference maker of them all.

		You can make a reasonable case for several players here, but none are as reliable as Fitz. With barely competent QB play he's been a stud; expecting improvement from Kolb and/or Skelton--and even bigger numbers from Fitz as a result--isn't as far-fetched as asking McFadden to stay healthy or the Bears to suddenly pry open their wallet and pay Forte.

		His injury situation, last year's knee injury and Michael Bush all loomed large in my head before making this pick, but I simply couldn't pass Forte up at 1.10. I'm telling you -- the bottom of the first round is a bad place to be this year. Lack of RB depth makes taking a RB nearly essential, but so many question marks outside of the top four. Thought Forte had the fewest of them among himself, Charles, Peterson and Richardson.

		So many players I want to take here, but I'll settle on my second running back (RB with questions, that is) in four picks. I feel very strongly that the best strategy this season is to go RB/RB 1/2 because there's just so few players with proven workhorse roles/RB1 pedigrees. It's true Charles is coming off major injury and now has Peyton Hillis to contend with, but he's almost a year removed from his torn ACL, and has proven he can succeed in a two-back backfield. He's not without risk, but the upside is too great to pass up here.

		There are a few WRs I'd be comfy drafting right here. But that position has a deep pool, and the Draftmasters format makes it easier to wait. No position presents a bigger drop-off this year than TE, and the top 2 should be gone by the time the draft makes it back to me. I'll take Graham slightly ahead of Gronk because he's healthy and likely to see more targets -- perhaps a bunch more.

		I felt that I had to pick the safest wideout after choosing McFadden with my first selection. Welker will be playing for a big-money deal and shouldn't disappoint. I'm expecting nearly 100 grabs for 1,250 yards and around eight scores.

		As Geddy Lee once said, "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." The voices in my head couldn't come to a consensus on Gronk or Andre Johnson, so ADP cast the deciding vote. Gronk is one of two difference-makers at a mandatory position. He doesn't need to match last year's record numbers to still warrant a pick this high.

		There I was, sitting on deck,ready to select the top tight end in Rob Gronkowsk, a true difference maker even among a solid class of options. And then, poof, no more Gronk. Fine, I'll have to suffer with AJ, arguably the best WR when healthy. Hamstring concerns make Johnson a touch risky, but in PPR, it's a risk worth taking.

		Drafting Brady, Brees or Stafford in either the 2nd or 3rd round this year is turning into my 2012 move to open a draft. I want security and heaps of points from the position in what is turning into a passing league. I realize many would go Brees here but I like what the Patriots are providing Tom Brady for weapons more.

		DeMarco Murray has top 12-14 overall upside, so even though he still feels a bit unproven, this isn't exactly a reach and it feels somewhat low-risk/high-reward. Calvin Johnson and DeMarco Murray is a fine start given we went WR with our first-round pick.

		Here is something I haven't done in a while, double up at RB to start a draft. If Brady was available here he would have been tempting, but I probably still pass on him, and the WR are fairly interchangeable at this point. Lynch looks like the last of the expected workhorse RB who... uh... find the end zone once in a while (S-Jax). Not much flash to the Seahawks but I do like their commitment to the run. Lynch tore it up the second half of last season. Skittles power!

I'll take my chances with White remaining a stud.

		Unfortunate Jennings got nabbed because I think he was the easy choice amongst the WR options when I looked ahead to this pick. I'm not a true believer in Cruz. He's the highest projected WR on the FF Today board (per Mike Krueger's projections), but only by a point over Colston. A.J. Green is conservatively projected 30 points behind those guys, but I do agree with the consensus from our FFT Forums crew that he is the pick here. He won't make it back, and he is a rare talent. Guess we need to double cross our fingers no sophomore slump for him or Andy Dalton, impacting Green.

		FFToday just said "Unfortunately Jennings got nabbed"... Well, unfortunately Green just got nabbed, as Green was was my top-ranked player left at that point. Julio Jones is a nice second prize, though, as he is truly capable of top 5 fantasy WR numbers in 2012. A.J. Green and Julio Jones are special - Both receivers are going to explode this season and I feel that both receivers will be top 8-12 overall picks heading into all leagues and formats next year.

		For me it was a choice between Brandon Marshall or Victor Cruz. Marshall is talented but a head case at times, in an offense geared to run the ball. Cruz has an accomplished quarterback and may have even more looks if Nicks is delayed coming back. I'd take Brandon Marshall if he were on the Giants but since that's not the case, sign me up for Victor Cruz. It's hard not to like this kid, he comes from good stock.

Pro Football Focus rated Jackson the best all-around RB in the league last year. And the injury (broken leg) isn't the type that lingers. The lack of early-career carries is much more important than his age.

		I love me some V-Jax this year. Josh Freeman will rely heavily on him, and this offense should utilize Jackson's downfield presence as well as San Diego's did. Tampa Bay plays in a division that knows how to score points, and none of these teams are exactly defensive stalwarts against the pass.

		We predict a bounce-back season out of Vick in 2012. Drafting Vick in the 4th and 5th round is low-risk/high-reward. He has top 5QB upside, and at this value, there just is really no risk.

		Way back during our 3rd round pick we already had our 4th round target in mind - Percy Harvin. With about six picks to go I pre-drafted just Harvin, Marques Colston and Steve Smith. Smith went quickly, then Colston, and then nervousness set in seeing if Harvin made it to us, and thankfully he did. Once Minnesota figured out how to properly use this guy last year, he had a huge second half including scoring a TD in 5 of 6 straight games, a pair of 10 reception games, and a pair of 8 reception games. Let's not forget the rushing. He rushed 51 times last year, and 32 times in the second half. At 5 yards a pop that adds ~250 yards to his total plus a TD or two. We've got Harvin projected comfortably inside the top 10 WR, which is huge return for a 4th round pick.
