2013 FFToolbox Expert Mock Draft #3

Draft took place July 9th, 2013

Scoring System:

Ovr Pick Franchise Selection Pos. Team Age Exp.
51 5.03 FFToolbox @Wallace17_daKid Mike Wallace WR MIA 27 4
52 5.04 ProFootballFocus @TorreySmithWR Torrey Smith WR BAL 25 2
53 5.05 TheHuddle Giovani Bernard RB CIN 22 R
I am very high on Antonio Brown and toyed with taking him here and seeing if Bernard would fall to me in the 6th. But when it came down to it there was more depth available at WR so I opted for Gio instead. At worst his involvement in the pass game will make him a flex play. Upside is that he finishes as a low level RB2.
54 5.06 FantasyTaz @ShaneVereen34 Shane Vereen RB NE 25 2
55 5.07 RotoExperts - Scott Steve Smith WR BAL 34 12
56 5.08 DraftSharks @ivory_29 Chris Ivory RB NYJ 26 3
This one felt like a reach, but Ivory could definitely provide this type of value if he stays healthy. The Jets' line remains good, and the team should showcase that again after getting rid of the plodding Shonn Greene. Ivory is the "runs angry" type.
57 5.09 World Ranked #20 @AaronRodgers12 Aaron Rodgers QB GB 30 8
58 5.10 FootballDiehards Eddie Lacy RB GB 23 R
To maximize the talents of Aaron Rodgers, the Packers need to take a sledgehammer to Cover-2 defenses this year. Lacy can be that sledgehammer if he's healthy. Remember, Lacy, at full strength, was the runaway head of the draft class at his position. On the best team in college football, in the best conference, he rushed for 1,322 yards with 18 touchdowns. And yes, Jonathan Franklin worries me a bit.
59 5.11 DynastyLeagueFootball @Jonathanstewar1 Jonathan Stewart RB CAR 27 5
60 5.12 KFFL - Tim @drewbrees Drew Brees QB NO 35 12
QBs fell in this format because of the expanded Flex format, and I'm not one usually to jump on the position this early. But this is where I typically start looking, and you can't get much better value than Brees here. I decided to start a run and have a consistent week-to-week stud. Even if they run more, I'm not concerned.
61 6.01 KFFL - Tim @JasonWitten Jason Witten TE DAL 31 10
Until Dallas develops a stable WR3, Witten will command elite PPR numbers. His touchdown total might not reach 10, but he'll be good for double-digit points most weeks. Along the same lines of the Brees pick -- the market was deflated, so I took advantage.
62 6.02 DynastyLeagueFootball @EricDecker87 Eric Decker WR NYJ 27 3
63 6.03 FootballDiehards @AntonioBrown84 Antonio Brown WR PIT 25 3
Mike Wallace's free-agent defection to Miami leaves Brown as the de facto No. 1 receiver in Pittsburgh. Is he ready for that role? We'll see. I thought he regressed a bit last season. That said, I'm pretty comfortable with him as my WR3 -- one with the upside to produce at a higher level.
64 6.04 World Ranked #20 @GregJennings Greg Jennings WR MIN 30 7
65 6.05 DraftSharks Cam Newton QB CAR 24 2
If you can get Newton as your starter in normal drafts, go for it. I certainly followed the value board here. As the draft went on, I found myself wishing I'd waited for Tony Romo. But looking back at the results, I don't love any of the RBs or WRs who went between this pick and my next. QBs will rarely slide like they did here.
66 6.06 RotoExperts - Scott Peyton Manning QB DEN 38 15
67 6.07 FantasyTaz @TonyGonzalez88 Tony Gonzalez TE --- 38 16
68 6.08 TheHuddle @CecilShortsIII Cecil Shorts WR JAX 26 2
Wanted Brown to slide but missed by 5 picks. Shorts should be solid enough as a WR3.
69 6.09 ProFootballFocus @StevieJohnson13 Stevie Johnson WR BUF 27 5
70 6.10 FFToolbox @JOSH_GORDONXII Josh Gordon WR CLE 23 1
71 6.11 Rotoexperts - Tony @VernonDavis85 Vernon Davis TE SF 30 7
72 6.12 FantasySharks James Jones WR OAK 30 6
73 7.01 FantasySharks @BenTateRB Ben Tate RB CLE 25 3
74 7.02 Rotoexperts - Tony @jmac_18 Jeremy Maclin WR PHI 25 4
75 7.03 FFToolbox T.Y. Hilton WR IND 24 1
76 7.04 ProFootballFocus Tom Brady QB NE 36 13
77 7.05 TheHuddle @D_Alexander84 Danario Alexander WR SD 25 3
Alexander's health makes him a bit of a risk, but as a WR4 the upside he presents made him to tempting to pass on.
78 7.06 FantasyTaz @Tayaustin01 Tavon Austin WR STL 23 R
79 7.07 RotoExperts - Scott @Mikebuc19 Mike Williams WR BUF 26 3
80 7.08 DraftSharks @drebrown35 Andre Brown RB HOU 27 4
I like Wilson's talent the same as most folks. But I also won't forget the fact that he spent most of last year on the sideline, with coaches saying he wasn't ready for even a complementary backfield role. Brown, meanwhile, looked terrific when he got the ball. I'd bet on Wilson putting up bigger numbers, but I'm also open to the possibility of Brown outscoring him. At the least, he should be the goal-line back under a coach who has long favored a 2-RB approach.
81 7.09 World Ranked #20 Daryl Richardson RB STL 24 1
82 7.10 FootballDiehards @DeseanJackson10 DeSean Jackson WR WAS 27 5
Was totally hoping Tavon Austin would reach me here, but I'll settle for the older version. ... Once considered one of the league's most dangerous offensive weapons, Jackson's productivity hasn't matched his special talent for more than two seasons. The hope here is that Chip Kelly can figure out how to tap back into Jackson's big-play ability.
83 7.11 DynastyLeagueFootball @MilesAustinIII Miles Austin WR --- 29 7
84 7.12 KFFL - Tim @MarkIngram22 Mark Ingram RB NO 24 2
You could hear a pin drop when it came to reliable RB depth here, and I took a chance on Ingram, who finished last year strong and could receive some favoratism from Sean Payton (who said he wants to run a bit more) and the organization (contract). He won't usurp Darren Sproles, but Ingram scoring seven or so touchdowns would do fine for flex value.
85 8.01 KFFL - Tim @KennyBritt_18 Kenny Britt WR STL 25 4
I wanted Miles Austin but was sniped. Britt is a similar downfield, high-risk, high-reward commodity who's trying to stay out of trouble this offseason. For my WR3, not a bad setup for someone who could rival V-Jax in average target depth.
86 8.02 DynastyLeagueFootball Kendall Wright WR TEN 24 1
87 8.03 FootballDiehards @LanceMoore16 Lance Moore WR PIT 30 8
Only WR Marques Colston (58) has caught more of Drew Brees' scoring passes than Moore (36). Moore set a career high for receiving yards in 2012. He also finished ranked first on the Saints in yards per catch with a 16.0 average. With Devery Henderson no longer in the mix, Moore should play an even more prominent role (in an offense that has ranked in the top five in the league each of the past five years).
88 8.04 World Ranked #20 @JustBlack81 Justin Blackmon WR JAX 24 1
89 8.05 DraftSharks @MichaelMFloyd Michael Floyd WR ARI 24 1
Floyd didn't do a whole lot as a rookie, but Bruce Arians has had a lot of nice things to say about him since taking over the head job this offseason. Floyd took over a starting role in team workouts and gets a boost from the attention necessarily paid to Larry Fitzgerald. This tall speedster brings loads of 2013 upside.
90 8.06 RotoExperts - Scott @VickBallard Vick Ballard RB IND 23 1
Pick made based on My Draft Queue
91 8.07 FantasyTaz @iPead Isaiah Pead RB STL 24 1
92 8.08 TheHuddle @Nukdabomb DeAndre Hopkins WR HOU 21 R
Upside pick, playing opposite of Andre Johnson will keep Hopkins in single coverage.
93 8.09 ProFootballFocus @TheLawFirmBJGE BenJarvus Green-Ellis RB CIN 28 5
94 8.10 FFToolbox @KyleRudolph82 Kyle Rudolph TE MIN 24 2
95 8.11 Rotoexperts - Tony @M_Ryan02 Matt Ryan QB ATL 28 5
96 8.12 FantasySharks @AnquanBoldin Anquan Boldin WR SF 33 10

98 9.02 Rotoexperts - Tony @E_Sanders88 Emmanuel Sanders WR DEN 27 3
