Week 14: Start 'Em

For the many of you reading this I would assume this means you qualified for the playoffs. Well, if any of you are still dealing with injuries on an inconsistent starter and you're looking for a spark to get the team going, check these guys out.

In his first career start Shaun Hill faced the Seattle Seahawks and he threw for 173 yards and 1 touchdown in a loss. Since then he has gone 2-2, averaging 223.5 yards and throwing for 7 touchdowns over his next 4 starts. After playing 2 tough road games at Dallas and then last week at Buffalo, Hill gets a chance to face one of the weaker pass defenses in the league, the New York Jets (who are giving up the 3rd most passing yards per game, 249). While the Jets don't have a good pass defense, they do have one of the best run defenses, only giving up 82 yards per game on the ground. Hill will have to open it up and pass the ball downfield to try and help open up the running game for Frank Gore. Give Hill a look.

Fantasy owners had huge hopes for Tim Hightower after his last game vs. the Rams, when he went off for his only 100 yard game of the year (109) and a touchdown. In the 4 games since then he has totaled only 85 yards and 2 touchdowns. Unfortunately for Hightower, the Cardinals haven't been doing so well over those 4 games and they seem to have abandoned the run early in those games, not leaving many opportunities for Hightower to run and score. With the Cardinals coming off 2 straight losses, look for them to try and establish the run early and often and control the clock. Playing against the Rams (who are giving up 161 yards per game on the ground) is the perfect opportunity for Hightower to get back to his rushing ways. Make sure Hightower is in your lineup this week.

It seems that no matter where, Peyton Hillis is always taking a back seat to someone. At the University of Arkansas he was the full back doing the blocking for 2008 first round picks Darren McFadden and Felix Jones. When he got to Denver he was behind Selvin Young, Andre Hall and Ryan Torain and only after all 3 went down did he get a chance to get the ball. His fantasy value is directly related to whether or not Selvin Young comes back or not. Hillis has had a touchdown in his last 3 games and 4 out of his last 5. His rushing yards have gone up each of the last 4 weeks to a career high 129 yards last week in the victory over the Jets. This week the Broncos face the Kansas City Chiefs, who are giving up 167 yards per game on the ground; make sure to pay close attention to Selvin Young's injury status. With the way Hillis has been playing, it might not even matter thus making Hillis a MUST start.

Rookie receivers usually take a while to bloom; the jump from College to the pros is a big one, especially if you come from a mid major program like Hawaii. Well, Davone Bess is starting to prove that theory wrong. He has caught at least 1 pass in every game this season and was finally starting to fill in as the #3 receiver on the Dolphins. However, since Greg Camarillo went with an injury 2 weeks ago, Bess has stepped up his game to the tune of 11 catches for 171 yards over 2 games. Camarillo was Chad Pennington's go to guy whenever he needed a big catch, and it seems he is building the same rapport with Bess. Bess makes a solid WR3 or flex start this week.

Before the season began the Giants were loaded at wide receiver and Domenik Hixon was just one of the many back ups. With injuries and suspension to stud wideout Plaxico Burress, the Giants were looking for a guy who can stretch the field and make big plays. Well, in the 4 games this season that Hixon either started or played the majority of the game in Plax' spot, he has combined for 16 catches for 247 yards and a touchdown. Hixon has been a pleasant surprise and now with Plax suspended for the season, Hixon is a very solid WR3 or flex start week in and week out. Don't sleep on Hixon, get him in your lineup this week.
