Who Not to Keep
WR Victor Cruz, NYG (WR - #9) - Solid/Safe Pick
Victor Cruz is one of those players I struggle with when it comes to deciding to keep him or allow him to fall into the draft. In some leagues the decision may be easy as you may only be allowed to keep one receiver; if you were lucky enough to have Megatron and Cruz then you'd be crazy to keep Cruz. On the other hand, Cruz may be the best receiver you had last season. Depending on your roster, Cruz may be a good keeper option. The main reason I'm concerned that Cruz may not be a good keep is that one season does not a career make. Keep in mind Brandon Lloyd led the NFL with over 1,400 yards in 2010 and in 2011 he only had 966 yards. I understand Cruz is in a much better situation, but that doesn't mean the end result will be.
WR Jordy Nelson, GB (WR - #11) - Solid/Safe Pick
Nelson caught 68 passes for 1,263 yards with 15 of them going for a touchdown. That is nearly 1 touchdown every 4 times he touched the ball! With numbers like that you're probably thinking I'm crazy telling fantasy owners not to keep Jordy. Again, I'm not saying don't keep him if he is the best player on your team. Assess what you have to give up keeping him. Keeping in mind that prior to last year's offensive explosion Nelson's best year was 45 receptions for 582 yards with a pair of touchdowns. If Nelson finished this season with 1,100 yards and 6 touchdowns we'd all say he had a good year, but are those numbers good enough to make him a fantasy keeper?
