Week 7: IDP Studs and Sleepers

We take a look at Week 7 IDP action, from the starters and those free agents worthy of starting or stashing

Here we are in Week 7 with another batch of waiver wire possibilities with rest of season potential, weekly must-start studs and one-hit wonders who can help you more than you might expect for your Week 5 needs.

HAND-SELECTED WEEK 7 PICKS
The following players are my own personal choice to have an excellent game. Call it clairvoyance, but it's more like matchup and situational awareness. I will try to pick a player who isn't rostered in most leagues, so you can find someone who would otherwise be on your bench or waiver wire. I'll try to hold myself accountable by noting how the previous week's suggestion performed. Defensive statistics, on a per-game basis, are heavily dependent on individual matchups and can be even more "predictable" than offensive stats.

SEASON-TO-DATE SCORECARD
DT: 2-1 | DE: 1-2 | LB: 2-1 | CB: 1-2 | S: 1-2

DEFENSIVE TACKLE
Last week's pick: Domata Peko, Cincinnati Bengals – 1 tackle, two assists, 1 sack (hit)
Jared Odrick, Miami Dolphins: Odrick isn't officially a starter; however, Miami's heavy rotation along the defensive front has provided around 75-percent of snaps to Odrick. He also adds a bit of a pass rush up the middle so he could snag a sack as well.

DEFENSIVE END
Last week's pick: Derek Wolfe, Denver Broncos – 1 tackle, 1 assist, 1 TFL (miss)
Tyson Jackson, Kansas City Chiefs: Jackson never quite lived up to those lofty expectations coming out of LSU, but he's been a solid pro for five seasons. His Week 7 opponent, Houston, is allowing the third-most fantasy points to defensive linemen.

LINEBACKER
Last week's pick: Moise Fokou, Tennessee Titans – five tackles, three assists, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 2 FFs (hit)
Lawrence Timmons, Pittsburgh Steelers: Timmons should be a household name to IDPers. His tackle numbers are still pretty good, but he hasn't been adding any big plays, which is a rarity when looking at his career stats. He faces the Ravens' offense next week and they're conceding the most fantasy points to linebackers per game.

CORNERBACK
Last week's pick: Cortland Finnegan, St. Louis Rams – 1 tackle (miss)
Sean Smith, Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs' have been playing at an elite level on defense and it's the role players who are also stepping up. Smith is a great glue guy. You may remember him from Miami's Hard Knocks episodes on HBO last year. He's a physical corner and should post great numbers against Houston. Their offense is allowing the most fantasy points to defensive backs per game.

SAFETY
Last week's pick: Chris Conte, Chicago Bears – 6 tackles (miss)
Jamarca Sanford, Minnesota Vikings: Sanford has seen his role increase this year and going up against the New York Giants could lead to significant scoring opportunities. The Giants struggle with ball security and turnovers. Sanford is averaging nearly 12 fantasy points per game when healthy.
