Austin Corbett CAR OG
Panthers' Austin Corbett: Returns to action
1h agoCorbett (knee) participated during Tuesday's voluntary workout, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Corbett closed out the 2023 campaign on IR after suffering a knee injury in a Week 11 loss to the Cowboys. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday suggests the Nevada product's knee is well healed as Carolina begins preparation for the upcoming season.
-
Amare Barno CAR LB
Panthers' Amare Barno: Still dealing with injury
1h agoBarno (knee) is not participating in voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Barno finished out the 2023 campaign on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury Week 16 against the Packers. Although it's not clear what specifically the injury was or how much longer it may affect him, it appears to still be a big enough issue that the Virginia Tech product is not taking part in drills. Luckily, for the Barno and the Panthers, training camp is still about three months away.
-
Isaiah Rodgers PHI CB
Eagles' Isaiah Rodgers: Restrictions lifted
1h agoRodgers was reinstated by the NFL on Tuesday after he was suspended for the 2023 season for violating the NFL's gambling policy, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Rodgers was originally suspended in June of 2023 after making bets on NFL games, which led to him being waived by the Colts. Despite the suspension, the UMass product inked a new deal with the Eagles two months later. With his suspension lifted, Rodgers will now be able to participate in all team activities for the first time since he signed with Philadelphia.

Patrick Surtain II DEN CB
Broncos' Patrick Surtain: Has fifth-year option picked up
1h agoThe Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Surtain's rookie contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The ninth overall pick in the 2021 Draft, Surtain so far has met expectations in his three-year career, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances the last two seasons and even first-team All-Pro honors in his second campaign. Overall, he has seven interceptions among 36 pass defenses in 50 regular-season contests while averaging 63.6 tackles per 17 games played, making him a respectable option in IDP formats. With Tuesday's transaction, Surtain now is locked in in Denver through the 2025 season.
-
Shaq Green-Thompson CAR OLB
Panthers' Shaq Thompson: Back on field
1h agoThompson (lower leg) is participating during voluntary workouts Tuesday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Thompson fractured his fibula Week 2 against the Saints, which sidelined the veteran linebacker for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday would suggest the 30-year-old has moved past the injury and is fully healthy as the Panthers begin early preparation for the upcoming season.
-
D.J. Wonnum CAR LB
Panthers' D.J. Wonnum: Still sidelined
1h agoWonnum (quadriceps) is missing voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Wonnum is still on the mend after surgery to repair his quadriceps, which he injured during Week 16 of last season. The South Carolina product inked a deal with the Panthers in March, so although it seems the franchise is not worried about his injury, it's not clear yet when he'll be ready to participate in the team's offseason programs.

Cavan Biggio TOR 2B
Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Not starting Tuesday
2m agoBiggio isn't in the Blue Jays' lineup for Tuesday's game against Kansas City.
Biggio will get a day to rest Tuesday after going 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored during Monday's victory. His absence will allow Davis Schneider to start at the keystone while batting sixth.
-
Danny Jansen TOR C
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Day off Tuesday
4m agoJansen isn't in Toronto's lineup for Tuesday's game aganist the Royals.
Jansen will get a breather after going 1-for-4 with a double during Monday's series opener. Alejandro Kirk will step in as the Jays' catcher and bat seventh.
-
Matt Mervis CHC 1B
Cubs' Matt Mervis: Batting eighth in season debut
5m agoMervis was recalled from Triple-A Iowa and is batting eighth as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Astros, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The 26-year-old was called up as expected Tuesday and will immediately make his way into the starting nine. Michael Busch has earned an everyday role at first base with his hot start to the season, so Mervis is likely to see most of his playing time at designated hitter, especially while Seiya Suzuki (oblique) remains sidelined.
-
Luke Little CHC RP
Cubs' Luke Little: Back with big club
12m agoThe Cubs recalled Little from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Little was just returned to Iowa on Monday after serving as the team's 27th man during Sunday's doubleheader against the Marlins, but he's been rerouted back to the big-league bullpen. He'll give manager Craig Counsell another lefty option in relief.
-
Drew Smyly CHC RP
Cubs' Drew Smyly: To IL with hip injury
14m agoThe Cubs placed Smyly on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to April 22, with a right hip impingement, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Smyly last pitched on Sunday against the Marlins and must have suffered an injury during the outing. He'll be eligible to return May 7, although it's not clear at this point whether he will be ready at that time.
-
Logan O'Hoppe LAA C
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Pushes average back up to .318
17m agoO'Hoppe went 3-for-4 with a run in Monday's loss to Baltimore.
O'Hoppe batted out of the No. 7 slot in the lineup and accounted for one of the team's two runs and for three of the team's eight hits. The backstop notched his fifth multi-hit game of the season and got his season batting average back up to .318 after a recent 2-for-18 skid. O'Hoppe also has two homers, seven RBI and eight runs over 74 plate appearances.
-
Giannis Antetokounmpo MIL PF
Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo: Officially ruled out
42m agoAntetokounmpo (calf) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 2 against the Pacers.
As expected, Antetokounmpo has been downgraded from doubtful to out while he continues to recover from a left soleus strain. Without their star player, the Bucks were able to win Game 1 behind a stellar first-half performance from Damian Lillard, affording Antetokounmpo some extra rest, but if Milwaukee drops Game 2 at home, there may be added pressure for the MVP candidate to return Friday, when the series shifts to Indiana for Game 3.
-
Zion Williamson NO PF
Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Hopeful to return in postseason
1h agoWilliamson (hamstring), who will be re-evaluated in one week, says it is "realistic" he returns in the postseason, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
Williamson exited the Pelicans' first Play-In Tournament game against the Lakers with a hamstring strain and has not played since. However, Williamson says he is hopeful to eventually make his postseason return, which would likely require a second-round matchup. Despite not having Williamson available for Game 1 against the top-seeded Thunder, the Pelicans kept it close, losing 94-92. How quickly the medical staff clears him may depend on how the remainder of the series plays out.
-
Terry Rozier MIA SG
Heat's Terry Rozier: Won't suit up Wednesday
2h agoRozier (neck) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Celtics, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
Rozier will now miss his eighth straight game, and it is unclear whether the team will look to rush him back for the remainder of the series without Jimmy Butler (knee). The 30-year-old is considered week-to-week and against the Celtics, so it would not come as a surprise for Rozier to miss the entirety of the series. With Rozier out, Delon Wright, Duncan Robinson and Patty Mills are all likely candidates to see an uptick in playing time.
-
Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Present at shootaround
3h agoLeonard (knee) is officially listed as questionable but was present for the Clippers' morning shootaround before Tuesday's Game 2 against the Mavericks, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com
Leonard was ruled out for Sunday's Game 1 win, his ninth consecutive absence, but has a chance to return Tuesday. The Clippers will likely decide the veteran's availability closer to the 10 p.m. ET tipoff after seeing how he fares in pregame warmups. If Leonard is ruled out again, expect Terance Mann and Amir Coffey to pick up extra minutes.
-
Michael Porter Jr. DEN SF
Nuggets' Michael Porter: Goes for 22 points in Game 2
6h agoPorter totaled 22 points (8-13 FG, 6-10 3Pt), nine rebounds, one assist and two steals in 38 minutes during Monday's 101-99 victory over the Lakers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Porter sniffed a double-double for the second consecutive game after delivering a 19-point, eight-rebound effort in Game 1 on Saturday, and the forward continues to impact both ends of the court for Denver. Even though he doesn't get the same attention as Nikola Jokic or Jamal Murray, Porter is a key piece in the Nuggets' offensive scheme, and he's averaging 16.2 points with 7.3 rebounds per game in April, including regular-season contests.
-
Nikola Jokic DEN C
Nuggets' Nikola Jokic: Posts triple-double in Game 2 win
6h agoJokic closed Monday's 101-99 win over the Lakers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals with 27 points (9-16 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 7-7 FT), 20 rebounds, 10 assists and two steals across 41 minutes.
Jamal Murray might have grabbed most of the headlines after draining a buzzer-beating, game-winning shot to lift Denver to victory, but Jokic's contributions can't be overlooked, as the MVP favorite posted a triple-double while dealing with the menace of Anthony Davis on both ends of the court. Jokic extended an impressive run that has seen him record a double-double or a triple-double in each of his last 16 games, a span in which he's averaging 28.3 points, 13.4 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game.
-
Philip Broberg EDM D
Oilers' Philip Broberg: Returned to AHL
5m agoBroberg was loaned to AHL Bakersfield on Tuesday.
Broberg has been up and down from the minors recently. He was a healthy scratch for Edmonton's 7-4 win over the Kings on Monday in Game 1. With Bakersfield set to open a best-of-three playoff series versus Ontario on Wednesday, Broberg may stay in the AHL to see some game action.
-
Chris Wagner COL RW
Avalanche's Chris Wagner: Hits waivers
3h agoWagner was placed on waivers Tuesday, per CapFriendly.
Wagner will probably remain with the Avalanche for Tuesday's Game 2 matchup versus Winnipeg. He will likely serve as a healthy scratch for a second straight outing. Wagner had one goal, one assist, 16 shots on net and 30 hits in 13 NHL contests during the 2023-24 regular season.
-
Igor Shesterkin NYR G
Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Slated to start Game 2
3h agoShesterkin is expected to guard the crease for Tuesday's Game 2 home matchup with Washington, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports.
Shesterkin is riding a three-game winning streak during which he posted a 0.98 GAA, .963 save percentage and one shutout. While Jonathan Quick has been a capable backup this year, securing 18 wins in 27 appearances, the 28-year-old Shesterkin should remain firmly cemented in the starting role throughout the postseason.
-
Nicolas Hague LV D
Golden Knights' Nicolas Hague: Sustains undisclosed injury
3h agoHague -- who missed the last eight minutes of Game 1 versus the Stars on Monday -- will be reevaluated prior to Game 2 on Wednesday, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
While Hague's potential absence is unlikely to impact the Golden Knights' offensive game, he's pointless in 20 straight matches, he does add a level of physicality with 60 hits over that stretch. If Hague can't play Wednesday, coach Bruce Cassidy will have the choice between Alec Martinez or Ben Hutton for the third pairing.
-
Casey DeSmith VAN G
Canucks' Casey DeSmith: Tending twine in Game 2
3h agoDeSmith will patrol the home crease Tuesday in Game 2 against Nashville, according to Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650.
DeSmith will get the nod after Thatcher Demko (undisclosed) was injured following Sunday's series-opening victory over the Predators. DeSmith filled in admirably as the Canucks' No. 1 netminder during the regular season when Demko was out due to a knee injury. The 32-year-old DeSmith posted a 12-9-6 record with a 2.89 GAA and an .895 save percentage in 29 appearances. He also stopped 26 shots in a 5-2 win over Nashville on Dec. 19.
-
Sergei Bobrovsky FLA G
Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Tending twine Tuesday
3h agoBobrovsky will defend the home cage against the Lightning in Game 2 on Tuesday.
Bobrovsky faced just 19 shots in Game 1, stopping 17 of them on the way to an .895 save percentage. Despite posting a sub-900 save percentage, the 35-year-old Russian still managed to secure an important victory for the Cats -- extending his winning streak to three games. Barring an injury, Bobrovsky should be between the crease for every game in the playoffs.
