Ben Roethlisberger expected to start in week 13
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger missed one game due to a concussion; He will likely not miss another. Head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Roethlisberger hasn't experienced any concussion symptoms since Friday and that all indications point to him starting Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. Roethlisberger was expected to play last week against the Ravens, but he started having headaches after Wednesday's practice and they continued throughout the week. Tomlin said he doesn't anticipate a re-occurrence of those headaches. Dennis Dixon filled in for Roethlisberger in week 12 and will remain the team's No. 2 quarterback.
Fantasy Analysis:
Last week, I wrote a note under almost the exact same title. For most of the week, we were optimistic that Roethlisberger would play. Then the headaches cropped up and everything changed. Considering that every concussion is different and recovery from case to case varies, you shouldn't put Ben Ben back into your lineup just yet. Yes, there are a lot of positive signs right now, but just be flexible. Concussion symptoms could possibly pop up later in the week. Have a backup plan in case the worst-case scenario happens. Roethlisberger, if he does play, has a decent match-up against the Raiders' secondary.
