Justin Gage's return may mean demotion for Kenny Britt
There is no question that the most productive Tennessee Titans receiver in the past two weeks has been rookie Kenny Britt. Vince Young is looking for him often and he has recorded 11 catches with 170 yards and two touchdowns in that span. But he may lose his starting spot with the possible return of Justin Gage this weekend. Gage returned to the practice field on Wednesday for the first time since breaking multiple bones in his back on Nov. 8 against the 49ers. Britt has been starting in Gage's place, but head coach Jeff Fisher said Wednesday that when Gage is healthy, he will get his starting gig alongside Nate Washington. Whether that happens this Sunday against the Colts remains to be seen.
Fantasy Analysis:
Before Gage got hurt, he was becoming a guy to watch in fantasy. He led the Titans' receivers in yards during Vince Young's first start this season and then had a 97-yard performance the following week when he got hurt. But it's hard to deny the chemistry that Young and Britt have had recently. Right now, I think that connection will keep Britt's value afloat, even if he isn't starting. We'll have to just wait and see how much Gage's presence takes away from the rookie. But neither receiver is more than a No. 3 in 12-team leagues. Hopefully one of them can become the go-to-guy down the stretch as the Titans have some very easy passing match-ups left on their schedule, including games against St. Louis, Miami and Seattle.
