Kurt Warner improving, but still has some slight light sensitivity
Slowly but surely, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner is getting better. After being declared out of last week's game with Tennessee shortly before kickoff due to neck stiffness, headaches and sensitivity to light, Warner told Sports Illustrated's Peter King on Wednesday that he is close to full health. The neck pain and headaches have passed, but Warner said there's still sensitivity to light. Not as bad as it was, but it's there, and though he thinks he'll play Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings, he still has some gnawing doubts about whether he should. Warner has split practice snaps with backup quarterback Matt Leinart all week. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said earlier this week that a decision on Warner's playing status will be determined by how he feels Sunday and it will likely come down to a game-time decision.
Fantasy Analysis:
Leinart reportedly took more snaps than usual Friday. I still think that Warner should be held out of this game. His blind side tackle Mike Gandy will probably not play in this game, meaning that a backup will have to keep Jared Allen off of the statuesque Warner. If the Cardinals are really committed to keeping Warner healthy, they should make him inactive for this game so that he can avoid the certain hits he will take from that Vikings' defense. No Warner will mean tempered expectations for Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, and more work for Tim Hightower and Beanie Wells.
