Michael Turner expected to miss Sunday's game
We haven't heard much about Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner, but the writing has been on the wall all week. He hasn't practiced all week in preparation for Sunday's game against Philadelphia and a source tells NFL.com that the big back is not expected to play after re-aggravating an ankle sprain during last Sunday's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Falcons hope Turner will be healthy enough to face the New Orleans Saints at home on Dec. 13. NFL.com states that Jason Snelling is expected to start for Turner while Jerious Norwood will be the backup.
Fantasy Analysis:
I'd be very wary of looking at Snelling as a decent flex play. Yes, he does have a tough match-up against the Eagles, but I think Norwood will be much more than a third-down back this week. After Turner got hurt, Norwood got a lot of work and looked very good. Snelling got only four carries, gained just eight yards and also lost a fumble. I actually think the Falcons trust Norwood a little bit more right now and I think he's the better play in week 13. As for Turner, I would expect him to miss not only this game, but next week's contest against the Saints as well. I think the Falcons realize that they brought Turner back a little too quickly from his original high ankle sprain. They will probably be very cautious with their stud runner, even with their playoff chances on life support.
