Michael Turner, Matt Ryan to be game-time calls
No surprise here. Atlanta Falcons Michael Turner and Matt Ryan will be game-time decisions for Sunday's game against the New York Jets. But the news on them has been more positive this week than it has been in quite a while. Ryan, who missed the past two games with turf toe, practiced on a limited basis throughout the week. He was only able to participate in walk-through drills last week. Turner also returned to practice in limited fashion. That's a big upgrade after he wasn't healthy enough to take part in any drills prior to last week's game. He is trying to recover from an ankle sprain that he originally sustained in week 10 and then aggravated in week 12.
Fantasy Analysis:
If I had to guess, I think both Turner and Ryan will play. It was encouraging that they were able to get two days of at least limited practice in, but this is not a good match-up for either player. The Jets are one of the best teams in the NFL against the pass. And even if Turner starts, he'll likely be sharing some carries with Jason Snelling and Jerious Norwood. The cold weather in New York will also not help them. I think that Ryan needs to stay on your bench unless you are really desperate. Turner presents the more difficult decision. If he starts, I think you have to play him. He's going to get the majority of the carries and the goal-line touches. Again, if he starts, he is probably a decent No. 2 running back in 12-team leagues.
