Playing status of Arizona Cardinals' studs may be a game-time decision
With the Chicago Bears' defeat of the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night, the Arizona Cardinals still have a shot at a first-round bye. That shot should mean that the team will play all of its offensive stars as usual in wee 17, but that shot could also disappear before they take the field Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. If the Vikings beat the Giants in an early game Sunday, the Cardinals will not be able to move up past the No. 3 seed in the NFC playoffs. Considering that the Cardinals will be facing the Packers this week -- a very possible first-round match-up if the Cardinals were to win Sunday -- the team may treat this game more like an exhibition, according to the Arizona Republic.
Fantasy Analysis:
It could get confusing to go through all the scenarios, but the gist of this note is that the Cardinals will know what they can accomplish Sunday before kickoff. If the Vikings lose to the Giants, you should expect the Cardinals to give the Packers their all. But if the Vikings win, head coach Ken Whisenhunt may choose to rest dinged-up players such as Larry Fitzgerald and Kurt Warner since nothing more than the No. 3 seed will be possible and since the team had its bye back in week four. I'm not totally worried about any of the Cardinals' player right now, but, if you own any important Cardinals fantasy players, you should be rooting hard for the Vikings this week.
