Pierre Garcon ruled out for week 17
Many Indianapolis Colts starters probably won't play more than a series or two in this Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills. But we know that at least one of the starters won't be playing at all. Wide receiver Pierre Garcon, who has been nursing a bruised hand for the past couple of weeks, will be held out of this week's game as the team prepares for the playoffs. Garcon also didn't play last week. Head coach Jim Caldwell has said that it is very important that the team is healthy for the playoffs. He used Garcon as an example of that during his Monday press conference. "Case and point, had Pierre gotten hurt [Sunday], he wouldn't have made it to the first round of the division (playoffs)," Caldwell said. "I think you have to take some of those things in consideration and kind of plot your course from there."
Fantasy Analysis:
This isn't a surprise and really, Garcon probably wouldn't have played enough to make an impact this week even if he was healthy. In his absence, expect more looks for Hank Baskett while Austin Collie will probably become the team's No. 1 wide receiver. With the Bills' secondary really banged-up, he is a very nice play this week. Baskett is certainly a bigger risk, but might be worth a look. Just don't forget that he won't have Peyton Manning delivering the ball to him. It'll be Curtis Painter.
