No timetable set for when Jaguars' Mike Sims-Walker will practice

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker @MikeSimsWalker was injured during the second quarter of the team's preseason game Friday and watched the rest of it from the sidelines with his arm in a sling. The Jaguars have stressed that the injury is not serious, calling it just a strained shoulder. So when will Sims-Walker return to practice? No one seems to know that. There is no timetable set. The Jaguars open their 2010 season Sept. 12 on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Analysis:

It seems like the Jaguars will take a Larry Fitzgerald-like approach with Sims-Walker. Both wide receivers are sporting injuries that they could probably play through under more important situations. But since it's just the preseason, both will probably rest for the remainder of August and should be fine by week one. Sims-Walker was one of the more frustrating wide receivers to own in fantasy last year. He began his second NFL season with a goose egg before three solid outputs in weeks 2-4. Then came the last-minute suspension in week five that screwed over many of MSW's owners. He rebounded from that with a string of stellar games and touchdowns in weeks 9, 10 and 11. But from week 12 on, Sims-Walker averaged an almost irrelevant 2.4 receptions and 25.8 yards per game. Sims-Walker has the talent to be a consistent contributor and can be a decent No. 2 wide receiver in fantasy. But there are two reasons to be cautious. First, the Jaguars haven't done much of anything to upgrade their offense. Walker will still have David Garrard throwing him passes without a suitable second option to take defensive attention away from him. Secondly, Sims-Walker is not exactly durable. He tore his ACL in college and missed half of his rookie season due to injury. For 2010, he's high risk, high reward.

Very true. I got caught looking at the Jags' preseason schedule. In a post-script, they open their season Sept. 12 against the Denver Broncos. Thanks for pointing out the error.
