Chargers place Vincent Jackson on roster exempt list

Last week, the San Diego Chargers sent wide receiver Vincent Jackson @VincentTJackson a letter stating if he didn't report to camp the team would place him on the roster exempt list. Well, to exactly no one's surprise, Jackson isn't to be found around the Chargers' camp, so you can probably guess what they did Friday night. The team placed Jackson on the roster exempt list. This means Jackson will be given a three-game suspension once he signs his tender offer, although it seems unlikely that such a day will come. If Jackson is traded, he would still have to serve the suspension with his new team. Along that line, the Seattle Seahawks were recently given permission to talk to Jackson. If Jackson is not traded and signs with another team next offseason, the Chargers would receive a compensatory draft pick. This also means that Jackson could miss six games this season. He is already slated to serve a three-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy. But if Jackson were to sign his San Diego tender by Sept. 4, the three games he has to miss because of his roster exempt status would be served concurrently with his suspension.

Fantasy Analysis:

This was bound to happen. But it's worth noting the extended suspension time Jackson might serve. I'm not touching him in drafts unless he falls into the ninth round or something crazy like that.
