Bears WR Roy Williams given warning that he might lose his starting gig

It was a huge surprise when we learned that the Chicago Bears were ready to bench wide receiver Johnny Knox @Jknox13 in favor of free-agent addition Roy Williams. But Williams' role as a starter on the Bears is far from a sure thing. And Bears wide receivers coach Darryl Drake has a few strong words for Williams -- who said last week that he was out of shape -- if he doesn't shapen up.
"Believe you and me, [Williams] also understands that Johnny is there, and Johnny is hungry, and Johnny wants his spot back," Drake told the Chicago Sun-Times. "And if things don't start changing, then Johnny is going to be in there. Heard it straight from the horse's mouth.
"I understand that Roy's got some things to do, as far as getting in shape, but that's not my fault, and that's not my concern. My concern is making sure, when we play Atlanta, we got the best guys out there, that is going to give us the best chance to win. And if Johnny Knox is that guy, then he needs to be out there."

Fantasy Analysis:

If you truly believed that Williams deserved a starting spot in Chicago, you haven't been paying attentionl. What the Bears have done to Knox -- basically relegate him to kick return duty and second-string WR work -- makes no sense to me. He may not be a very polished wide receiver, but there's a reason why he led this team in receiving yards last season and tied for the team lead in catches and touchdowns.
He's pretty good. He's at least better than Williams.
I'll never draft Roy Williams, and I can't draft or pick up Knox until we know for sure that he is back in the starting lineup. But the way Roy is entering the 2011 season, that sounds like it will happen sooner rather than later.

I have an ESPN depth chart showing the Bears' wide-outs as #1 Williams, #2 Knox, #3 Bennett, and #4 Hester. Is this article accurate?

I see at least two other depth charts -- Yahoo! and Rotoworld --- that have Knox listed as a second-team WR, no better than No. 3.
There's no doubt that Knox has lost his starting spot for now, something that doesn't make sense to me and will be changed back as long as Roy Williams keeps being Roy Williams.

I hate to be a pest, but this site's own depth chart has Knox at WR1, and it was updated on 08/27. Yahoo has him at WR2. You might want to relay your info to the depth chart division on this site.
