Jaguars sign K Josh Scobee to 4-year contract

On Monday, Jacksonville signed K Josh Scobee @JoshScobee10 to a 4-year contract worth up to $14.2 million, just 2 hours before the NFL's deadline to sign franchised players to long-term deals.

Fantasy Analysis:

Despite the relative minimal value kickers have in most fantasy leagues, the Jacksonville kicker has the potential to become one of the more valuable given his ability to hit long field goals with superb accuracy. Scobee had his best season in 2011, hitting 23 of 25 attempts (92%), 12 of which were beyond 40+ yards and 5 at 50+ yards, tying him for 6th in the NFL despite tying for 27th in total attempts. Scobee's biggest drawback is the team he plays on, as the offense led by the much maligned Blaine Gabbert severely limited Scobee's chances. The Jacksonville offense will be better in 2012 (it cannot be worse) and Scobee should see more opportunities. Scobee has the leg to put up top 10 numbers, now he just needs to offense to give him more chances.
