Marshawn Lynch
has stayed away from trouble for the past few years. Unfortunately, he found it over the weekend.
The Seattle Seahawks running back was arrested in Oakland on Saturday night for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was cited for DUI and driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit -- two misdemeanors charges -- and later released. The California Highway Patrol told the San Jose Mercury News that Lynch did indeed have a BAL of more than 0.08 but did not reveal the exact amount.
Lynch turned in his best season as a pro last year. He made the Pro Bowl for the second time and scored a career-high 13 touchdowns. He had a streak of 11 consecutive games in which he scored at least one TD.
Fantasy Analysis:
Lynch was suspended once for three games due to a felony weapons charge that was knocked down to a misdemeanor through a plea deal. That occurred more than three years ago, and Lynch has pretty much kept his nose clean since. But given his history, I think he's facing another suspension here. Granted, not all of the details are out yet.
Suspended or not, I'm not a believer in Beast Mode this year as a second- or third-round pick. I don't see him repeating or coming close to his 2011 numbers, which preceded two really poor seasons. I'll let him be someone else's problem.
