Cardinals TE Rob Housler showing improvement

Arizona Cardinals second year tight end Rob Housler has shown improvement as the team prepares to open training camp next week in Flagstaff. Tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens recently spoke about Housler's development, " Rob continues to work everyday and he's definitely gotten better. He just needs to come to the field and get better everyday; and if he does, he'll be the player we thought he could be."

Fantasy Analysis:

Rob Housler is a name to keep an eye on during the preseason as a sneaky good sleeper pick at the TE position. There was some buzz last year when the Cardinals selected the 6-foot-5, 248-pound Housler in the 3rd round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He looked to have the inside track to see extended playing time as a rookie until the Cardinals brought in both Jeff King and Todd Heap @ToddHeap86 to shore up their TE needs. Admittedly, Housler is still a raw player but he does possess the speed and athleticism to attack the middle seam of defenses and has improved his route running. Heap and King both remain on the Arizona roster and Housler will need to keep improving to garner significant playing time. That being said, Heap has struggled through multiple injuries the past few seasons and King is a journeyman TE at best. Housler has the chance to supplant both as the number one pass catching option at the TE position and offer viable fantasy production in 2012.
