49ers QB Alex Smith loves new offensive weapons

San Francisco QB Alex Smith is very excited about the additions of WRs Randy Moss @DaRealOtisMoss and Mario Manningham @Manningham49ers to the 49ers passing game. "Love it, love it." Smith replied when asked about the additions, We had a great offseason, a lot of new faces came in, really fit in. But this is the time when real football starts, put the pads on and we'll see what everbody's got."

Fantasy Analysis:

Alex Smith has every reason to be excited about the new weapons that the 49ers have brought in to bolster their passing attack. He was the ultimate game manager for San Francisco last season and finished with a modest 17 passing TDs, against only 5 interceptions, while adding 2 TDs on the ground. Smith did everything new head coach Jim Harbaugh asked of him and frankly it wasn't much. The 49ers love to pound the ball on the ground, control the clock and let their smothering defense dominate. While that philosophy will still be in place for the 2012 season, Smith now has the weapons on offense to attack defenses through the air and should get that opoortunity more this season. Randy Moss has appeared motivated and impressive to date in mini-camps, Manningham is a proven talent to line up opposite Moss and keep Michael Crabtree @KingCrab15 in the slot where he is a dangerous weapon. Vernon Davis @VernonDavis85 and Smith were a lethal combination in the playoffs for the 49ers and will look to keep that chemistry going. Smith is poised for a breakout fantasy season in 2012 for San Francisco as their potent rushing attack will open up the play action passing game. Draft him as a late round No. 2 QB and you will have a viable fantasy option to fill in on the bye week, as well as possibly carry a fantasy team that loses their QB to injury.
