Joseph Addai is no longer buried on the New England Patriots' depth chart. Now he's just plain off of it.
The Patriots cut Addai on Wednesday after he reportedly failed a team physical. Addai, 29, was signed by the Patriots in May and by letting him go now, the move cost them just $125,000. Addai spent his first six NFL seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
Fantasy Analysis:
Addai would have been just a third-down back for the Pats. And with Stevan Ridley
, Shane Vereen
and Danny Woodhead
already in place, it's not a major loss. Maybe Addai latches on with another team before the season, but it's hard to imagine him holding more than a sliver of fantasy value. Injuries have really taken a toll on him over the past two years.
Ridley looks to be the man you should want the most out of this backfield right now. But with Patriots RBs, you know to invest at your own risk. Roles are certainly subject to change.
