Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce injured his hamstring early in training camp.
This is news to monitor as Pierce is considered the primary handcuff to fellow Raven Ray Rice . Pierce also missed minicamp due to a hamstring issue so he may be a little slow in coming back. It may take quite a while before Pierce has a grasp of the playbook and the speed of the NFL. The rookie was drafted in the 3rd round out of Temple and the Ravens thought he would be a good replacement for the retired Ricky Williams. Last season Williams had 108 rushes for 444 yards and 2 touchdowns and caught 12 passes for 83 yards. Pierce was ahead of Anthony Allen on the depth chart because the Ravens liked his superior speed and vision. Ray Rice draftees will want to pay close attention to this and plan accordingly.
