It's a crowded situation in the Carolina back field once again this season but RB DeAngelo Williams
has opened training camp as the Panthers lead back. Williams will have plenty of company all season long as returning veteran RB Jonathan Stewart
, recently acquired FB Mike Tolbert, as well as QB Cam Newton, will all get rushing touches in Carolina
Fantasy Analysis:
In our previous Carolina team preview, we warned that this is one of the premier (worst) running back by committee situations in the entire National Football League. While each of the three backs could probably handle the load, as a high end RB2 on their own, feeding and keeping them all happy is going to be tough for head coach Ron Rivera and offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski.
When you take into consideration that Newton took off and ran often last year, this RBBC has huge red flags draped all over it. Carolina had 445 rushing attempts last season with the majority going to Williams (155) Stewart (142) and Newton (126). Expect similar numbers in 2012. Tolbert comes in as a goal line vulture to further complicate this mess - that should be avoided.
