One of the last big-name free agents on the market is now off the market. The Seattle Seahawks signed Braylon Edwards to a one-year contract Tuesday. Besides the Seahawks, Edwards had recently worked out for the Dolphins, and the Jets were reportedly interested in re-signing him.
Fantasy Analysis:
It seems like a long, long time ago when Edwards put up 16 touchdowns to go with 1,289 yards. It was 2007, and Braylon is just 29. But since then he's been a malcontent and has dealt with a series of maladies. Most importantly, his knees have given him trouble of late. The Seahawks need WR depth since Sidney Rice
is coming off of surgery to both shoulders and is still not 100 percent. But if they are looking for production out of Edwards and fellow recent signee Antonio Bryant, well ... . I wouldn't be surprised if neither guy made the final roster, but that probably depends a lot on Rice's ability to play without restrictions.
Bringing Edwards in is a threat to the fantasy value of Golden Tate
and Ben Obomanu
. Regardless, I'm not high on anyone in that group, and I don't trust Rice to stay healthy. If I had to pick one, the Seahawks receiver I'd want is slot man Doug Baldwin
. FFToolbox has ranked him the No. 48 wide receiver.
