Fantasy owners have been waiting for a monster season out of Shonn Greene since 2010. It hasn't come yet, and it seems unlikely to arrive in 2012. Jets coaches may not believe that it's going to happen either. But for what it is worth, they are requesting it
"I'm asking for a monster season," running backs coach Anthony Lynn told the New York Daily News on Tuesday. "I think he's one of the best power backs in the game. Why wouldn't you?"
Fantasy Analysis:
Greene has the body of a power back. The only thing he is missing is the power. He just doesn't run hard consistently. We've all been teased by his potential and the Jets' love affair with the run, but the more you watch Greene, the more you realize that he is just not a special talent. He's a satisfactory running back. Jets coaches are delusional if they expect something more.
Greene is FFToolbox's No. 25 RB, but I wouldn't buy him even at that decent price. I think he'll lose more touches this season to Joe McKnight, and he'll certainly lose a handful of touchdown opportunites because of Tim Tebow. I would consider Greene's 2011 numbers -- 1,054 yards, 4.2 yards per carry, six touchdowns -- to be his ceiling.
