Vikings RB Adrian Peterson says he could practice as soon as Sunday

Adrian Peterson @AdrianPeterson won't play in the Vikings' preseason game Friday against the San Francisco 49ers. But his return to the field might not come long after it. Peterson told reporters on Tuesday that he might be able to practice as soon as Sunday. As long as it's OK with head coach Leslie Frazier.
"We're going to talk [Wednesday] night a little bit," Peterson told Tom Pelissero of "I'm looking forward to being out here pretty soon. I've been out for like two weeks, so it's time to get going. I know that they understand that, and they've been watching, and they've been getting good feedback, so I'm pretty sure they're pretty much as excited as I am."
Peterson also said that when he returns to practice, he will wear a sleeve over the knee but not a brace. He said the brace is uncomfortable and tends to give players a timid mentality when playing.
Frazier said Peterson doesn't need a certain number of carries or to complete a certain number of practices to be ready for the season.

Fantasy Analysis:

Pelissero said it "seems logical" that Peterson could make his preseason debut Aug. 24 versus the Chargers if he does return to practice next week. Peterson still has a round-2 ADP -- he's at 22.36 overall, according to FFToolbox -- and I doubt that I would gamble on such a powerful running back coming off such a power-draining injury with that high of a pick. But hey, a return is getting closer.
