RB coach Jerald Ingram wants to make rookie RB David Wilson 'great'
Former Virginia Tech athlete and current New York Giants rookie RB David Wilson
will be playing in the preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Friday. RB coach Jerald ingram has gone on the record stating that, "There are some things that I'm very impressed with. There are some things that I'm not... his teammates will decide when he's ready." Additionally, he went on to say, "It's a learning curve process for all rookie running backs. There's been more busts than greats. So let's find a way to make him great... We know that he runs with great speed."
Fantasy Analysis:
This is encouraging news coming from training camp; however, it seems like a rather typical rookie-related statement. The optimism of making him great should help fuel his motivation and intensity. Wilson had a history of fumbling problems in college, as well as he doesn't show great receiving hands or blocking skill. However, he is the immediate backup to the New York Giants first stringer, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, who missed 4 games last season. It appears that Wilson is definitely draftable and should be viewed in roughly the same category as Isaiah Pead, Ryan Williams, Felix Jones, and Daniel Thomas; he probably shows more upside than all four of those RBs.
