Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukeee Journal Sentinel that Greg Jennings
' recovery from his Aug. 3 concussion is "not going as well as I know Greg would like." Jennings has yet to pass the required congitive tests and has missed the past five Packers practices. Asked when he thinks Jennings will be ready to return to work, McCarthy wouldn't promise anything.
"I'm shooting in the dark here," he said. "... Could be a couple days."
Fantasy Analysis:
And thus the nature of concussions. Some players can make it back in a few days. Some others have to wait weeks. Forgive me for the baseball reference on a fantasy football web site, but Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau missed three months last season because of post-concussion syndrome. So we sit and wait for Jennings to get better. If you're drafting right now, I wouldn't shy away from him; the Morneau example is a rare case, and odds are Jennings will be full strength by September. But at this point, it seems like a given that Jennings will miss Green Bay's next preseason game, Thursday versus Cleveland.
