Saints RB Darren Sproles has minor knee injury

New Orleans Saints interim head coach Joe Vitt said Monday that running back Darren Sproles @DarrenSproles suffered a knee injury during Thursday's preseason game versus the Patriots. Although Sproles has been already ruled out for Friday's game against the Jaguars, the injury is considered minor, and Sproles should be able to play in the Saints' fourth preseason game.

Fantasy Analysis:

Sproles hasn't missed a game that counted since 2007. Of course, some of that has to do with his modest workloads, but he is not a name you think of when asked about risky running backs -- and there are a lot of them. That lack of risk makes him a fine RB2, even if he doesn't touch the ball 200 times on offense, because the Saints use him in many ways, and he still has awesome quickness. He is FFToolbox's No. 19 running back and has a current average draft position of 29.31. Unless your in a PPR league, that draft position needs to come down slightly, but I've got no problem with Sproles.

Anyone know if he's still returning kicks? He definitely contributed to my victory last year and I got him in maybe the 6th round.

The Saints' current depth chart on their web site states that Sproles is still the kick and punt returner.

Im in a yahoo 14 team PPR and IDP league. I pick 5th. Mixture of seasoned FFers and a couple of novices. Not sure that everyone understands the PPR concept, but Im not saying anything. I used your calculator to run my league's scoring. DS comes up as #1 in weight. Would I be crazy picking him at #5? Most yahoo mock drafts I've run have him going around 40-50. Maybe wait until #33?
