Things just got a little bit tougher for Roy Helu
in his task to prove to Redskins coaches that he deserves to be their starting running back. Head coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that Helu has some Achilles tendinitis. He sat out the day's practice, and there is no set timetable for his return.
"Hopefully it's not too serious so we can get him back to normal," Shanahan told CSNWashington.com
Fantasy Analysis:
Helu remains behind Evan Royster
on the depth chart. And he's probably not a strong bet to play at Chicago on Aug. 18. I still like Helu and think he'll claim the starting job at some point, but this doesn't help dispel the reported concerns that coaches have about Helu's durability. And right now, according to FFToolbox's ADP chart, Royster is being selected about 100 picks after Helu. That's some very strong value, even for a running back who is going to have to deal with Shanahan's own brand of musical chairs.
