Titans head coach Mike Munchak confirmed reports: second-year QB Jake Locker will start Friday's preseason game versus Tampa Bay.
Fantasy Analysis:
Veteran Matt Hasselbeck
started the preseason opener versus the Seattle Seahawks and struggled quite a bit, going 5 of 9 with two interceptions (one was returned for a score). Locker was more impressive (7-13 for 80 yards, with no turnovers) and now gets a shot against a woeful Bucs defense, though the starting assignment does not mean he has the starting job, not yet anyway. Given his ability to make plays with his legs,Locker's upside is significantly higher than Hasselbeck's and he could prove to be a decent QB2. As a rookie he struggled with his accuracy at times, but even in limited action Locker's ability to create and extend plays was quite evident.Perhaps the Titans decide they want an experienced presence in the huddle for the opener, but it's looking more and more like it will take an injury or significantly poor play for Locker not to be Week 1 starter.
