Redskins WR Pierre Garcon, TE Fred Davis having very different camps

Tight end Fred Davis @freddavis83 may be the Redskins' most athletically gifted and talented receiver. But the early returns don't look so good for him. CSN Washington on wrote Monday that Davis "isn't having a great camp for someone who is supposed to have a breakout season. The Washington Examiner followed later that night, stating Davis "continues to have a quiet camp."
Meanwhile, it looks like wide receiver Pierre Garcon @PierreGarcon and rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III have been playing together for years. Both were on point with each during Thursday's preseason game, and Griffin was not short on compliments Monday when asked what he likes about Garcon.
"Just his tenacity after he gets the ball," Griffin told the Examiner. "He's confident going across the middle because he knows nobody can really punish him because of his body. He's got great hands, downfield speed, and he's big and tough. He's got the total package."

Fantasy Analysis:

The Examiner's John Keim also writes that Garcon has something else that's very valuable: Griffin's trust. That doesn't seem to be the case with Davis right now.
I have not been a Garcon supporter this preseason. I've had my doubts about whether he and RGIII would be able to click, and I just don't think he'll be a consistent producer. While it's still very, very early, Garcon is starting to win me over a little bit. I wouldn't draft him as more than a reserve, but now, maybe he's worth your WR3 slot. We'll see how the relationship with Griffin continues through the month.
I'm not worried about Davis yet. So he's off to a slow start. So what? If Garcon is going to really take hold of that No. 1 WR role, I still think that Davis will/should/can be the second most-targeted receiver on this team. He's just too much of a physical mismatch. He remains a guy I like in the lower TE1 range.
