Although New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan doesn't think it will happen, he said Wednesday that it's "possible" wide receiver Santonio Holmes
will not play again until the regular season because of injuries to his rib and back.
Holmes suffered bruised ribs during an intrasquad scrimmage about 10 days ago. He had been able to return for individual drills during the past week, but now he's being forced out of practice by related back soreness.
Fantasy Analysis:
Without Holmes, the Jets' No. 1 wide receiver is probably ... I don't know. Do you care? It's probably Stephen Hill
or Chaz Schilens. That shouldn't make anyone excited, and I've been a Schilens apologist for years. Holmes remains the only WR worth drafting on this team, but you'll never find me drafting him for my team. I don't want any part of this offense or whatever the Jets plan to call it. Holmes has spent two sub-par seasons in New York, and the QB situation certainly doesn't help. It could be even worse this year with Tebow in the mix. Even as FFToolbox's No. 37 WR, there are many more receivers lower on that list that I'd rather have than Holmes.
