RB Donald Brown is Colts' clear starter

Running back Donald Brown took a short screen pass 63 yards on the Colts' first preseason play from scrimmage, showcasing breakaway speed. One good play, and one reason why, as the Indianapolis Star's Phil Richards writes, "coach Chuck Pagano has made it clear that Brown is No. 1."

Fantasy Analysis:

It's still a timeshare, with Brown losing goal-line and short-yardage carries to Delone Carter . And if Carter is not healthy enough -- he suffered a rib injury during Sunday's game -- that task will be bestowed upon rookie Vick Ballard next. Mewelde Moore is somewhere in the mix, but Brown is a much younger version of him, so I don't know how he fits
There are very good running backs who will not get a lot of chances around the goal line; Jamaal Charles comes to mind. Now, Brown definitely doesn't have Charles' quickness or speed, but he's pretty fast and is proficient as a receiver. I think he'll get 15-20 touches per game, and that should make him a flex option in most weeks.
