Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he feels running back Rashard Mendenhall
could return by "Week 5 or Week 6." Mendenhall was recently activated from the PUP list which means he won't be forced to sit out any games to start the year. Colbert went on to say, "Whether he plays in those first six weeks, we don't know. But obviously, we feel there's a chance that could happen."
Fantasy Analysis:
After a strong 2010, Mendenhall dealt with a big drop in production last season which could be attributed to the Steelers' sputtering offensive line play. This year, backup back Isaac Redman
will be the starter to open the season and unless he puts up huge numbers, Mendenhall should slide back right into the starting spot. The Steelers still have plenty of weapons on offense. Finally, fantasy owners should keep an eye on them now that they have a new offensive coordinator (former Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley) and have added some new pieces to their offensive line.
