San Francisco 49ers running backs Brandon Jacobs
(knee) and rookie LaMichael James
(ankle) were carted off during the team's exhibition loss to the Houston Texans. Jacobs suffered the more serious of the two injuries but head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters after the game that it was not a season-ending injury. "he's going to miss a little time," Harbaugh said. "The ACL is good. The patella is good. It'll be some time, but we'll see." James said after the game that he "tweaked [his ankle] the first preseason game, so it's kind of recurring."
Fantasy Analysis:
Jacobs has played well on limited carries and won't be asked much to do this year. He was brought in for short-yard and goal-line situations. James, in spite of being a rookie, will be a tremendous runner and receiver in due time. His combination of speed and quick change of direction will serve him well in a league where players like Darren Sproles and Reggie Bush are beginning to find their niche. Jacobs will have an MRI on Sunday and James should be ready for San Francisco's next preseason game.
