Cowboys WR Miles Austin not expected to practice this week

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin @MilesAustinIII is still being bothered by his latest hamstring strain. It's an injury he suffered during practice on Aug. 4, and it has forced him to miss the team's first two preseason games. According to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, don't expect to see anything change with Austin this week either.
"He's not one of the ones I'm thinking will be back," Jones said of Austin to the team's official web site. "I wouldn't discount it, but he's not one of the ones I have coming back."
DallasCowboys.com writer Josh Ellis speculates that since Austin is no longer expected to play in the third preseason game, it's "likely" that he won't see any game action until the regular-season opener, Sept. 5 versus the Giants, at the earliest.

Fantasy Analysis:

That's because most teams don't play their starters for long or at all in their preseason finale. But considering Austin hasn't been on the field for any games this month, I think it would be beneficial for him to play prior to the regular season if he can. He'll need those reps to knock off some of the rust and re-acclimate himself to the speed of the game.
But the bigger issue here is that Austin seems to have chronic hamstring problems. Or really awful luck. This is now the fourth hamstring issue he has had in the last 12 months, and fantasy owners should be very worried. Austin almost seems destined to start the season slowly if he is even able to play Week 1. From there, who knows how long he'll stay healthy before his hamstrings start pulling him back again? Let him fall in your draft.
