Youth has reigned supreme at the NFL's most important position Monday. First, the Titans handed the keys to the offense to quarterback Jake Locker. A few hours later, the Miami Dolphins did the same with Ryan Tannehill . Head coach Joe Philbin announced this afternoon that Tannehill will be under center when the Dolphins take the field against the Houston Texans on Sept. 9.
Tannehill started Friday's preseason game versus Carolina. He completed just 11 of 23 passes for 100 yards and no scores. However, he was better than Matt Moore, who completed 5 of 15 passes for 57 yards.
Neither guy has looked like anything close to special, but the Dolphins are doing the right thing here. They know this is a rebuilding season. It's going to be rough no matter if Moore or Tannehill starts. So I have no problem with the Dolphins throwing the rookie into the fire this soon. It's not like they have a clearly better option. And frankly, Tannehill has played better than the veteran this month.
Tannehill should be on the radar of only those in very deep dynasty leagues. This passing game is a mess right now. Other than Davone Bess , no receiver is even remotely enticing.
