Washington Redskins running back Roy Helu
will be forced to take time off due to soreness in both of his Achilles' tendons. Helu, who already missed the team's last preseason game, is in jeopardy of missing more time and the remainder of the preseason. Head coach Mike Shanahn sung the praises for backups Alfred Morris
and Evan Royster
which has fueled speculation that Helu may begin the season on the PUP list.
Fantasy Analysis:
Helu felt like the frontrunner coming into the preseason but things have quickly changed, as they tend to do for Shanahan's backfields. The team also has RB Tim Hightower
in the mix which only further complicates a running back by committee situation. Helu would miss the first half of the season if placed on the PUP list, restricting him to a waiver wire pickup around Week 6 or 7 as opposed to a back who was going in the middle rounds of most drafts.
