49ers RB Brandon Jacobs might play Week 1

Much like what happened with LeGarrette Blount, the speculation was much worse than the reality for San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs
. After takiing a direct helmet shot to his left knee Saturday versus the Texans and being carted off the field, Jacobs came away without any major damage. Head coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday that it is "possible" Jacobs will be active for the team's regular-season opener against the Green Bay Packers.
Fantasy Analysis:
I'm still amazed that Jacobs didn't tear anything after that hit. Instead, he's relatively OK and might be healthy enough to play in about three weeks. However, he is the Niners' No. 3 RB at the very least. Other than some spare goal-line carries, I'm not sure how much of a role he is going to have. Jacobs isn't worth your time unless some of the runners in front of him -- Frank Gore and/or Kendall Hunter -- are unable to suit up.
