UPDATE: Cowboys WR Dez Bryant has patella tendinitis

Another day, another injury to a Dallas Cowboys offensive skill player. The MRI results on wide receiver Dez Bryant @DezBryant have returned, and they show that Bryant has patella tendinitis, according to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. Bryant has been told to rest for the time being, and it is uncertain if he will play again before the regular season.

Fantasy Analysis:

Tony Romo is now facing the very real possibility of having to go without his top three weapons for the rest of the preseason. The news could be worse for Bryant, but it is a little discouraging that he continues to be bothered by injury. Remember that even though he played in 15 games last season, he was limited by a nagging quad contusion that he suffered in Week 1. He also had a hamstring injury earlier this month.
I expect Bryant, Miles Austin and Jason Witten to all start off the season a little slower than normal. That could mean some low totals for Romo in the early going, especially behind Dallas' bad offensive line. That could also mean that you might be able to trade for Romo at a bargain price a few weeks into the season.
I have said many times that I think Bryant is going to have a monster year, and Romo is one of the reasons why it's OK to wait on quarterbacks at your draft. But right now, it might be wise to exercise a little caution with the entire Cowboys aerial offense until we get closer to Sept. 5 and get a better idea of what it is going to look like for that day's game against the Giants.
