Michael Vick
's rib X-rays came back negative Monday night. Tests on his rib cartilage today also revealed nothing. Vick has been diagnosed with a rib contusion stemming from Jermaine Cunninham's hit last night. Vick will not play in this week's game against the Cleveland Browns. But he is fully expected to play come Week 1.
Fantasy Analysis:
Vick probably wouldn't have played much, if at all, this week because the Eagles are facing the Browns, the same team that they play to open the regular season. I'm sure Andy Reid doesn't want to give them any early looks at what he has planned.
And so Vick is relatively OK. But how long does that last? He has been on the field for 12 plays this preseason and has already sustained contusions to his throwing hand and midsection. If you want to take him in the fourth or fifth round in drafts, you're a braver person than I. I understand the tremendous upside still exists, but the guy is just so scary and not always in a good way. If you get Vick, make sure you also select a quality backup QB. You're going to need it.
