UPDATE: QB Russell Wilson will start for Seahawks on Friday

What started out as a reported rumor was confirmed Tuesday by Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll: Russell Wilson @DangeRussWilson will be the team's starting quarterback in Friday's preseason game versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Matt Flynn, who was the starter for the first two games, will be the No. 2 quarterback this week.
"This is about competition," Carroll said. "This is what we've always been about, and if somebody doesn't see it that way then they don't understand us, and I can't do anything about that. ... I'm real confident we're doing the right thing. I don't have any hesitation in this.
Wilson has completed 22 of 33 passes this preseason for 279 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He's also added 92 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Flynn is 17-for-26 for 102 yards. He has thrown zero touchdowns and one interception.

Fantasy Analysis:

Of course, Flynn has been facing first-team defenses while Wilson has come in against backups and camp bodies. But at least he has taken advantage of his playing time. Carroll said he wanted to see how Willson handles the pressure of starting and wouldn't commit to either Flynn or Wilson starting the preseason finale. I guess Wilson is now the slight favorite to open the regular season as Seattle's starter, but that could change quickly. At least his legs give him some moderate fantasy value. But both of these guys are way down the QB rankings, deep into the QB2 field.
