ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Wednesday that doctors have told Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten
he won't need surgery for his lacerated spleen. Schefter wrote that Witten is considered questionable for Week 1 against the New York Giants. Witten suffered the injury during Dallas' Aug. 13 preseason opener and has been told to not do much of anything as the organ heals.
Fantasy Analysis:
Considering that Witten hasn't been cleared to do any football activities -- or even exercise -- since the injury makes me think he is a little worse than questionable for a game that is now just two weeks away. I think Witten will return to action shortly after that, but plan on a couple of low outputs as he works himself back into shape. Witten has taken a dive in drafts. At this point, he's a nice value pick if he misses just one game. But make sure you get a quality TE2.
