Not that there seemed to be any thoughts toward the contrary, but Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Knapp made sure people knew Wednesday that Darren McFadden
will be the team's goal-line back this season.
"I've always had a belief that the No. 1 back can still be a goal-line back, doesn't have to necessarily be a bigger, stronger guy," Knapp said.
Fantasy Analysis:
This falls in line with what head coach Dennis Allen said earlier today about how the Raiders weren't going to "baby" McFadden. Ever since Michael Bush left for Chicago, I was under the impression that McFadden would take over the goal-line duties. At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, it's not like he's a small guy. The Raiders have a couple of stockier backs on their roster, Mike Goodson
and Lonyae Miller
. But the Raiders are going to give McFadden all he can handle this year. Good on them; he is their best player. If he gets hurt again, so be it. But if he has just enough luck to stay healthy ... man, oh man.
